Flemings Steakhouse is a fabulous restaurant where I have had multiple meetings in my previous career as a pharmaceutical sales rep. They have always gone above and beyond with the business meals. Experiencing Flemings in a business meeting versus a night out with my sweetie were two completely different events.
For New Years Eve, my sweetie made reservations for us early enough in the evening to both enjoy dinner and be home and off the roads early. I already knew that Flemings goes to great lengths for gluten free safety and as usual, I could relax and enjoy the meal. We agreed to put away our phones and just be present for dinner, something that I think everyone can relate to as a challenge at times these days. We agreed I would only pull it out for one blog post. This means I only brought my phone out during the main course to snap the picture for you guys with the most food for your visual pleasure. :-)

We enjoyed the evening from appetizers to our main course to the dessert. To start, I had the lobster bisque soup. Oh, how I miss certain soups that are normally not safe because of gluten.... I wonder if I can go back and sit at the bar just to enjoy the soup. My date had a salad. I am super picky with salads, so unless it has some unusual toppings for a house salad, I don't often want the house salad. For the main course, we ordered to be able to share. I am incredibly blessed that he does this often when we go out to eat, especially when I am having a hard time making my mind up. He ordered the filet Oscar. I had the filet topped with jumbo shrimp. It's hard to say whose was better as they were both equally mouth watering, although whenever there is an option to have crabmeat, my answer is usually yes. Our waiter recommended two sides would be more than enough, so we ordered brussel sprouts with bacon and Fleming's potatoes. I make brussel sprouts with pancetta at home and they are usually very good, but I have to say there is something unbelievably good apparently when they come from Fleming's. This was a side dish not listed on the menu, but we just happened to ask a few questions and found out they happened to have it as a special that wasn't well known about. If you have never tried Fleming's potatoes, you are absolutely missing out! I usually reserve my carbs for wine or dessert, but these are definitely worth the splurge!

What about dessert? Well, we definitely enjoyed our splurge of a night out. We both enjoy cooking most nights and are pretty decent at it, so we don't go out to eat as often as many couples and we wanted to make the most of it. We had the chocolate torte with ice cream and fresh whipped cream. Can you say total indulgence?! Wishing you a blessed and healthy 2019!
