From the previous post, I mentioned having some travel adventures getting to Nashville. Nashville is somewhere that I have been multiple times previously between my pharmaceutical sales job and when I did my debt free yell with Dave Ramsey. I love how much this town has to offer and seem amazed by it each time I visit.
On our first free night, I went to Tavern Midtown with my roomies. One of the other women is also gluten free, so that always helps me feel a little less like I stick out with my gluten free necessity. I love fish tacos and it's been a while since I have been able to order them as many places bread their fish for fish tacos. I was also tempted though by the lamb vindaloo tacos. My friends had a hard time deciding as well.
So I ordered the fish tacos.
She ordered the lamb tacos and we shared. I thought they were both awesome, but I liked mine just a little bit more, so I made the right decision. You can't go wrong with either, unless you're talking preference. One thing of note: sometimes the gluten free soft tacos are a little on the dry side. That was not the case with our experience, thankfully.
I also was interested in trying a different refresher than my usual, so I had one of these and it hit the spot perfectly. Sometimes, ya gotta live a little outside of the wine world.
On my next free night, I met up with an awesome client who has been crushing it with her lofty goals. I am so proud of her. When I looked up places to eat that were gluten free, she and I looked over a few menus ahead of time and chose to meet at Coco Greens. It seemed like a really cool place, a vegan cafe and wellness center. The atmosphere is really cool and I felt it was a great place to relax and enjoy some of their wellness services, but not that night.
We were just there for dinner, but figured it would be a neat place. I was under impressed unfortunately with the food, but thought the company was great. I ordered their Low Mein, with a side of quinoa and a broccoli soup that sounded good. Oh, how I have missed broccoli and cheddar soup, which is often thickened with flour.
By no means was the menu misleading. I merely put way too high of expectations that this would somehow be a good substitute. I was wrong and unfortunately unimpressed.
***Update May, 2019: As I was reviewing blog posts, I learned that Coco Greens is now called 212 Cafe and Wellness Center. It appears there was a change to the menu as well, somewhere around February of this year. My hope is that 212 Cafe and Wellness Center's menu and food products live up to the hype that I read about before going.
About that awesome company though. This is my friend and client Taneya. She has been absolutely crushing it since April with her health goals. I can't wait to see where she goes with this! One of the best things she shared was how her family was starting to notice the incremental differences. It's amazing what you can do when you realize how others value you just as much as you value them. I am so incredibly proud of her and grateful we had the opportunity to meet up for dinner!
