Pawley's Island - 7/5/17

The summer of 2017, I was incredibly blessed with some amazing opportunities to spend some quality time with my daughter. After seventeen years in corporate America and limits on vacations, time off, etc, deciding to take the layoff just before Memorial Day as the right decision to be a work at home mom, who also happened to be divorced, with a business that was nowhere near where I needed it to be as my single source of income, was what one might call a gigantic leap of faith. I was also beyond blessed with opportunities to take summer trips with my daughter that I truly believe happened because I was open to possibilities and it was something that we desperately needed after years of work and life dictating our time be squeezed in when possible, not much, as is the case for most working parents. As the saying goes, the days and nights might be long, but the years are short.

This was a huge reason for why I was busting my tail to figure out how to make this work at home business of helping enable others to take charge of their own health proactively opportunity work. Yes, it was important that I be able to help with the knowledge I learned spending seventeen years in pharmaceutical sales and how so many of the prescriptions I sold could be avoided through education, but more importantly was the other crisis that the "working successful" refuse to discuss: the time that is put into making a living results in not having the time to enjoy life, family, and our loved ones. I was one of those people and I became aware of that the moment I became a mom and had to make decisions about my family based on my work's agenda over my own. The summer of 2017 was about adjusting to a new normal and creating some wonderful lasting memories for my daughter and me. A trip to Pawleys Island with a friend and teammate was one of those blessings.

While we ate most of our meals in the condo, we did venture out to try some of the local food. We had a nice dinner that was kid friendly at a cute little place called bisQit.

How adorable is this place?!

Drink menu is adult and child friendly.

I recommend the Nutty Cup.

While deciding on our dinners, of course I had to try one of their specialty beverages, so I tried the Nutty Cup. It was delicious! For dinner, my daughter had her usual: plain cheeseburger, so no, I didn't bother with a picture of that. I had a custom burger with mushrooms, Swiss, bacon, and avocado on a gluten free bun, along with a side of their awesome fries. There was nothing left at the end of the night. I normally skip the gluten free bun because I don't find any worth the carbs and calories, but this time I got it with the bun to take back to the condo, as kids just love bread.

Quality burgers with lots of choices!

Bacon, mushroom, Swiss, & avocado with a GF bun

Truthfully, when I go on vacation, I love the ability to try new restaurants with lots of different gluten free options, but sometimes, it's kid time and they just want something all American as a burger, fries, and milkshake. This was one of those occasions and worth it. Cheers to your next gluten free all American vacation adventure!
